Last week the Environmental Waste Management Program staff attended the Annual Job Fair in Fort Hall to help educate the community. The team was able to education attendees about the vision to protect Tribal Resources by identifying, cleaning up, and monitoring contaminated locations within the Reservation that pose a threat to human health and the environment.

One focus of education was informing the public about the Brownfields Response Program. In 2006, the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes began a Tribal Brownfields Response Program funded by grants from EPA.

The EWMP Tribal Brownfields Response Program has provided identification, assessment, cleanup, oversight and monitoring of sites within the Reservation that contain contaminants, pollutants or other materials with the potential to adversely affect human health and the environment.
